Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of ARFD Bureau's Hay Dat and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan said today that ahead of Armenian Genocide Centennial, Armenia should get rid of Armenia-Turkey Protocols.

Kiro Manoyan noted that Turkey continues using them against Armenia showing the world that there is a process between the two states.

“It won’t be right to mark the Genocide Centennial without getting rid of the Protocols. Armenia should call off its signature also taking into account Turkey’s anti-Armenian attitude and Kessab events”, he said noting that the world won’t accuse Armenia of the step.

Speaking about expectations, Kiro Manoyan noted that they exist in both Armenian and Turkish societies: both parties are interested in the world’s attitude and possible shifts. He noted that “the Turkish society is a victim of Genocide denial policy and needs to know its own history and Armenians should benefit it establishing ties with them”. Among the measures to be taken, Kiro Manoyan pointed out the process of finding the ways of compensation.

Touching upon the U.S. Ambassador’s statement according to which “quite a significant response” is expected from Washington on April 24, Kiro Manoyan noted that “the response will be significant if the U.S. President and Secretary of State call the 1915 events is they happened - genocide”.
