Yerevan/Mediamax/. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern said today that the stagnation of Armenian-Turkish protocols is one of the major disappointments he has experienced during his work in Armenia.
At the farewell press conference with the journalists today, he stated that the U.S. stands ready to promote reconciliation between the two peoples.
“When I had just come to Armenia, former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was excited by the signing of protocols. And we were inclined to think that the borders would open in the end and the relations would normalize”, he said adding that the U.S. will continue to commit every effort aimed at Armenian-Turkish reconciliation.
