Yerevan/Mediamax/. "Shant-2015” military strategic command and staff exercise has started in Armenia. It will be held from September 3 to 6.

At the meeting with journalists spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan said that President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan leads the exercise.

Artsrun Hovhannisyan touched upon the consistent ceasefire breach noting that it violates the life of the population and harms rural communities.

According to the spokesperson, the situation on the border is under control and there are no signs for launching large-scale military actions.

Touching on rumors that due to the situation on the border Tavush residents are being evacuated, the spokesperson said that evacuation centers, and training military base had been established by the scenario of “Shant-2015” military exercise in order to make it clear at the camp how people should be safely evacuated during war.

“Shant-2015” regular military exercise aims to recheck the immediate defense preparedness of the state, the mobilization preparedness of the state and military governing bodies when repulsing aggression and the capability to bring to high degree of readiness, and to raise the harmony of interaction and actions,” reads the press release.

Considering the military and political situation that has emerged around Armenia and in the adjacent territory, the imaginary rival of the exercise and the situation are fitted to reality to the extent possible.
