Yerevan /Mediamax/. As envisaged by the scenario of "Shant-2015” military strategic command and staff exercise, all Armenian state authorities are absolutely ready to take prompt and balanced decisions.

Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Movses Hakobyan told journalists about this noting that the military exercise primarily aims to find out the country’s potential in case of possible war.

He recalled that “Shant-2015” is a regular exercise and has nothing to do with the tension observed on the border over the past days.

“The exercise was approved by the Armenian President back in November 2014. It involves state authorities and an army corps. All state run public authorities facing issues related to mobilization readiness were included in the first phase. This is the first time such a large-scale exercise with the involvement of all ministries of the republic is held. It’s yet too early to evaluate their work but the results will be summed up in the future,” said Movses Hakobyan.

The exercise will be held from September 3 to 6.

According to today’s scenario of the exercise, evacuation has been organized at the National Gallery of Armenia, and additional hospital beds were placed at “Erebuni” Medical Center. As per the scenario, the evacuated civilians should be taken there. As to the martial law, some of the sections of the communications system have passed under the control of the Armenian Armed Forces. The staff and property of Matenadaran have been fully evacuated.

50 additional hospital beds were put at Artashat City Hospital within the framework of preparation works for evacuation. An auto cade will be formed at Republic Square starting 6 pm. It’s yet not clear what order it will get. Also, starting from 2 am till dawn curfew will be declared in Avan administrative district.

By the scenario of the exercise, the activities of the Armenian Foreign Ministry are also tested to see what measures it should take in order to ease the tension. The following task has been set before the Foreign Ministry – “what to do if one of the CSTO partners (but not Russia) does not fulfill its commitments?”

At the special meeting of the government today Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan decided to bring the country’s Armed Forces to full combat readiness.

By the scenario of the exercise, the Armed Forces have 65-day reserves for all economic means and the reserves of several economic means are designed for a longer period.
