Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Police issued a statement today, presenting the events that unfolded at the seized Erebuni Police Station last night and this morning.

It is worth reminding that “Sasna Tsrer” armed group made a statement earlier, noting that police opened fire at them at night, causing leg wounds to two members of the group.

“From 20:00 and till the midnight of July 25, members of the armed group at the seized station first burned a police bus, which was standing in the street outside of the station area, then tried to get two more buses out of the mentioned area and burn them. Shots were fired from the station area during those actions.

At around 01:00, an UAZ police car drove out of the station area and moved towards the chain of police officers at the barriers. When the car approached the barriers, policemen opened fire at the engine to stop the movement of the car and prevent the immediate threat coming from the armed persons inside the car. The car made a half-circle to the left, shots followed, then the policemen fired at the persons in the car. Police did not return fire at the next shots. Two people out of the three, riding in the car, received leg wounds in the exchange of fire and retreated to the station,” reads the statement of Armenian Police.

Police informs that medical aid was provided immediately, the wounded were offered to be taken to hospital, and the armed group took the offer.

At the moment, the two wounded gunmen Ashot Petrosyan and Hovhannes Harutyunyan are at the hospital, receiving necessary medical aid.
