RPA and “Prosperous Armenia” lead, Gallup poll says

Yerevan/Mediamax/. The results of the poll on election moods of Armenian citizens, held on April 4-10, were presented in Yerevan today.

The poll is part of a complex public opinion research program. It is realized jointly with the Sociological Association of Armenia (SAA) and The Gallup Organization by the request of “ArmNews” TV.

 

According to 28% of polled people, only Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) can resolve the country’s problems; 25% think only “Prosperous Armenia” can do it; 6,7% trust the Armenian National Congress (ANC); 4,5%- “Orinats Yerkir”, 4%- “Dashnaktsutyun”  and 3,5%- “Heritage”.

 

The poll revealed that 34% will vote for RPA, 28%- for “Prosperous Armenia”, 9% for ANC, 6%- for “Orinats Yerkir”, 5% for “Dashnaktsutyun” and 3% for “Heritage”.

 

The first poll involved 1018 Armenian citizens eligible to vote. The results of the second poll will be published on April 29, “ArmNews” CEO Artak Alexanyan said.

 

Rasa Alishauskene, representative of The Gallup Organization, noted that only 58% of questioned people said they will take part in elections, 30% said they won’t.

 

Television remains the main source of information for the voters – 96%; then come radio- 31%, friends and relatives- 31%, Internet- 26% and papers- 25%.

 

“Young people’s preferences of information sources differ: the main source of information for them is TV and Internet,” said Rasa Alishauskene.
