Yerevan /Mediamax/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated today that "Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to meet with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and then Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the end of the week in Sochi”.

“When all of them find themselves at one place at the same time, they won’t possibly do without conversations about Nagorno Karabakh. The leaders themselves will decide the way it will be organized. Undoubtedly, we are worried about the situation on the contact line”, said Sergey Lavrov answering ITAR-TASS question.

The Russian Minister recalled that at one of the meetings of Russian, Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents some time ago, “rather a modest statement” containing an agreement on necessity of developing confidence-building steps was agreed upon.

“At that time, the sides had to exchange the bodies of the killed, prisoners of war and agree on extra steps to ease the situation on “contact line”. As one of the Co-Chairs, we take considerable efforts together with our French and American counterparts to help the opposing sides reach an agreement on the political principles needed to settle the conflict so as the sides could form packages acceptable for them. Making such a large-scale political statement containing principles to be guided with during the conflict settlement would undoubtedly contribute to the normalization of the atmosphere. It’s hard to do that. Many attempts were made to this end and every time it seemed the agreement was about to be reached but something hindered which is why I will not make any forecasts. I think we should persistently and steadily continue helping Armenians and Azerbaijanis to seek for such formulations which will be comfortable for the both parties”, noted the Russian FM.
