Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said today that Armenia has made serious progress in the fulfillment of commitments to the Council of Europe the outcomes of which are visible and irreversible.
As the Armenian presidential press service reports, Serzh Sargsyan stated it receiving the Delegation headed by Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muižnieks in Yerevan today.
The President stressed that Armenia highlights cooperation with the Council of Europe, which is the main guarantor for human rights in Europe, and the latter’s support for ongoing reforms in our country.
Nils Muižnieks noted that their visit will focus on issues related to reforms in the judicial system, equality between men and women and struggle against domestic violence. The Council of Europe Commissioner stressed he is happy to know that progress has been recorded in those areas.
