Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan condemned the actions of “Islamic State” (ISIS) terrorist group addressing a speech at the session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk today.

“It’s not by hearsay that the Armenian nation knows what religious and ethnic intolerance is. Armenian Genocide Centennial committed in the Ottoman Empire will mark next year. We proceed from the fact that recognition and condemnation of already committed crimes against humanity are one of the most essential tools to prevent the reoccurrence of such a dreadful crime.

The explosion of Armenian Apostolic Church of the Holy Martyrs in Deir ez-Zor (Syria) is one of the recent instances of religious intolerance organized by the terrorist group claiming itself as “Islamic State”. The desecration of the remains of Genocide victims kept in the crypt of this church and the inhuman oppressions to which Christian, Yazidi and other Middle West communities are exposed cannot be justified and framed by a philosophy of any of the religions we know, including by Islam. We are grateful to all those who strongly deplored this vandalism along with us”, stated the Armenian President.
