Yerevan/Mediamax/. Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov said that all measures Russia takes with regard to the NK conflict settlement are aimed at "finding a mutually acceptable solution as soon as possible.”

At the press conference in Moscow after negotiations with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian, Sergey Lavrov said “we do not allow even the idea that the NK conflict might escalate into a “hot phase,” RIA Novosti reports.

“I am convinced that despite the rhetoric, none of the parties wants that,” stressed Sergey Lavrov.

According to him, President of Russia Vladimir Putin undertook special efforts last year “as a result of which we continue consultations on possible practical steps enabling us to start the process of this conflict settlement, so that the Southern Caucasus region becomes a place of cooperation – without any blockades, sanctions and restrictions from which everybody will only benefit.”

In his turn, Edward Nalbandian recalled again that the position of the Co-Chairs is expressed in the five statements adopted over the past years at the level of presidents of OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries, and Armenia’s stance is consonant with these approaches.

“There will be a real chance of political settlement after Azerbaijan’s stance is also consonant with the approaches of the international community,” said Edward Nalbandian.
