Yerevan /Mediamax/. U.S. President Barack Obama would not use the term "genocide” in his annual statement on April 24.

Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) informs that Armenian American community leaders met with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough and Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes where they were informed that President Obama would not use the term “genocide” in his annual statement on April 24th.

McDonough and Rhodes informed that U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew will lead a Presidential Delegation to Yerevan, Armenia on April 24th.

After the meeting Bryan Ardouny released the following statement:

“The President's unwillingness to speak truthfully about the Armenian Genocide is not what we expect from a world leader on the centenary of the Armenian Genocide.  His failure to use the term genocide represents a major blow for human rights advocates and sets the clock back on genocide prevention”.

“President Obama's surrender to Turkey represents a national disgrace.  It is, very simply, a betrayal of truth, a betrayal of trust,” said Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) Chairman Ken Hachikian.
