Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan will leave for Riga on a working visit to take part in European People’s Party (EPP) and EU Eastern Partnership summits on May 21-22.
The Armenian President is also scheduled to have bilateral meetings during his visit.
Riga Summit is expected to mark the start of negotiations over the new legal framework regulating EU-Armenia relations.
The new format of EU-Armenia cooperation has been discussed since late 2014.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev will not take part in Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga. Aide to the President of Azerbaijan Ali Gasanov stated it, Trend reports.
According to him, “as there is only a short time left before the start of the European Games and preparations for this major event are in the final stage, the schedule of the Azerbaijani President is highly packed and with regard to this, the head of state will not be able to take part in the Summit.”
