Yerevan/Mediamax/. Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics thinks that Armenia can get a visa-free regime with the EU.

“We give all our partners an opportunity of visa liberalization. We have made certain progress in case of Armenia and Azerbaijan. If these countries express the will and all the criteria are met I do not see any grounds for not granting them the opportunity”, said the Latvian FM in his interview to Kommersant.

Edgars Rinkevics also commented on the beginning of talks on signing of a new EU-Armenia agreement.

“We discussed the issue at EU-Armenia Council in January: we are ready to start the talks with Yerevan on the new agreement based on the drafts we have already had with Armenia since 2013, i.e. the draft Association Agreement. But the principled difference will be based on the fact that Armenia is already a member of Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). And we will be seeking ways so as Armenia’s commitments as a EEU member didn’t run counter to development of relations with EU in some fields”, said the Latvian Minister.
