Yerevan/Mediamax/. Senior German diplomat said in Yerevan today "it is hard to imagine Turkey would support "Islamic State”.

Head of Defense and Security Policy Division of the German Foreign Ministry Jasper Wieck stated it during the press conference at NATO Information Center in Yerevan today commenting by the request of Mediamax on international media publications on that the Turkish intelligence helped ship arms to Syrian Islamist rebel areas.

The German diplomat noted that Turkey is one of the countries that was most affected by the Syrian crisis, with around 1.7 million refugees as of today.

“Presently Turkey faces serious security threats and has appeared in a highly complicated situation. I would not recommend accusing Turkey,” said Jasper Wieck.

Answering the question regarding Turkey’s being blamed for that ISIS sells illegally extracted oil exactly in the territory of this country, the German diplomat urged to “tell apart the government from the private sector.”

Besides, Jasper Wieck said “when you have 1.7 million refugees in your country it is very hard to control them all and to know what they are engaged in.”
