Yerevan/Mediamax/. Head of Defense and Security Policy Division of the German Foreign Ministry Jasper Wieck said in Yerevan today that Armenia’s two-vector policy "does not cause issues.”

He stated it during a press conference at NATO Information Center in Yerevan.

He noted that NATO’s partnership policy has no bids for exclusivity and it can be combined with other cooperation formats as it happens in case of Armenia.

“For example, on one hand, Armenia has partnership cooperation with NATO and on the other hand, it has membership in CSTO. This two-vector policy does not cause any issues at all and it’s up to Armenia what combination of security and partnership it should opt for,” said Jasper Wieck. He also stressed that NATO’s partnership cooperation is not aimed against anyone.

In his turn, NATO Liaison Officer in the South Caucasus William Lahue noted that NATO continues to actively cooperate with Armenia and expects to devise new ways of cooperation.

William Lahue also commented on statements on that NATO wants to “force Russia to its knees.”

“We should importantly understand that in case of NATO partnerships, each sovereign country itself  makes a decision regarding a certain format of partnership. NATO views its partnerships in respect to the interests of its partners and not those of Russia,” stressed William Lahue.
