Yerevan /Mediamax/. Deputy Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Edward Sharmazanov expressed the concern over the downing of Russian Su-24 military plane by the Turkish armed forces.

He said this during his meeting with Chairman of Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin within the plenary session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Parliamentary Assembly on November 26.

“Shooting down the military airplane fighting against terrorism means supporting the terrorists. Last year, the criminal regime of Azerbaijan, which is considered Turkey’s “younger brother”, ordered downing of the Armenian helicopter, and perhaps, the incident gave Turkish leadership the impression that such grave crimes would not be punished. The world is changing: new political approaches and situations are forming and over the time, Armenia has proved it’s Russia’s ally, that the Russian people is a fraternal nation for us. Unfortunately, Turkey hasn’t changed over the past 100 years”, noted Edward Sharmazanov.

He said that Armenia welcomes the draft law on criminalization of the Armenian Genocide denial submitted to the Duma.

Sergey Naryshkin thanked Armenia for supporting Russia on international platforms. He stressed that the faults of the past, crimes and offenses should be adequately condemned which would allow avoiding their reoccurrence.

Sergey Naryshkin noted in his speech:

“Turkey stabbed us from the back which is typical to cowards. Of course, not the Turkish people but the political leadership are accountable for the incident. And the Turkish authorities will regret for their grave crime”.
