Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that "Azerbaijan has become a real threat to security and stability in South Caucasus”.

The Armenian FM said this addressing a speech at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute in November 25.

“The more the international community calls upon the conflicting sides to prepare the people for peace not war, the more Azerbaijani authorities voice bellicose rhetoric and the more persecutions against Azerbaijani civic society representatives supporting reconciliation are aggravated. The more the sides are urged to withdraw the snipers from the contact line and create mechanisms for investigating ceasefire violation cases, the more snipers' shots, provocative incidents and subversive actions the Azerbaijan initiates'', Edward Nalbandian said.

“Over the past 3 months, the Co-Chairs have initiated summits with participation of Armenian and Azerbaijani leadership to defuse the tension and prevent further escalation in the first place. Shortly after Paris meeting, the Azerbaijani authorities started a new wave of provocative anti-Armenian rhetoric, and the country's Defense Minister again threatened that they would settle NK conflict in a military way.

The downing of Arstakh Defense Army helicopter which was carrying out a training flight by Azerbaijani armed forces which resulted in death of 3 young servicemen is one of Baku's recent criminal provocations. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces were constantly firing at the helicopter crash site for almost 10 days hindering the rescuers’ groups, OSCE and ICRC representatives to evacuate the killed pilots' bodies. Facing with Azerbaijan’s another gross violation of international humanitarian law, the NK Defense Army had to resort to a special operation to evacuate the body of one of the pilots and remains of the two other pilots of the shot down helicopter”, said the Armenian FM.
