Yerevan /Mediamax/. The meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers within the framework of the session of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers did not take place.

Edward Nalbandian and Elmar Mammadyarov had separate meetings with the OSCE Co-Chairs, Mediamax’s special correspondent from Basel reports.

Armenian FM Edward Nalbandian said today that a pentalateral (Armenia, Azerbaijan and three Co-Chair countries) statement was not adopted at the meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers since “this time the terms were not that beneficial and the Co-Chairs decided to issue a separate trilateral statement”.

“This statement once again highlights there is no alternative to the peaceful and negotiated settlement of the conflict. It’s clear who it is addressed to. Armenia has repeatedly stressed on various levels there is solely a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The mediators underline measures required to be taken to reinforce ceasefire. Then again, it’s clear who it’s addressed to”, said Edward Nalbandian.

“The Co-Chairs use quite diplomatic and even over the top delicate language when saying the downing of the helicopter was an avoidable tragedy. Thus, they are saying such a thing should not have been done and that it was a mistake”, said the Armenian FM.
