Patti Smith devotes “Swans” to Artavazd Peleshyan



While whole Armenia was busy with Golden Apricot International Film Festival, a unique event took place in Paris which was left unnoticed in Yerevan.

 

On July 10, the premiere of “Swans (a tribute to Pelechian)” musical composition by Patti Smith was held at the Cartier Foundation (Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain).

 

While composing the work, Patti Smith was inspired by Artavazd Peleshyan’s Inhabitants movie shot in 1970.

 

Artavazd Peleshyan attended the premiere of “Swans”.

 

67-year-old Patti Smith is a legendary American singer and poetess and is considered one of the founders of punk-rock.

 

The name of Patti Smith is included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

 

From May 10,2014, Artavazd Peleshyan’s film “Our Century” (1982) is shown in the exhibition galleries of Cartier Foundation every day (except Monday). The screenings will be available till August 24.
