“Full re-equipment of 64 operating TV stations and construction of 150 new towers. All the equipment has already been delivered'', said the Minister.

According to Gagik Beglaryan, the initial phase of the digital broadcasting has already begun. After digitization, 18 digital stations in Yerevan and 9 more in marzes will be broadcast and the state will cover the costs of decoding devices for disadvantaged families.

''Under the conception, 150 thousand decoding devices will be provided to people free and it will be done upon requests. According to our preliminary calculations, there will be less than 100 thousand requests'', he said.

After digital broadcasting, analogue broadcasting will be carried out simultaneously within 6 months.

During the discussion, broadcasting of digital signal was tested. During its presentation, Director of ''Armenian TV and Radio Transmission Network» CJSC Grigor Amalyan noted that in case of digital broadcasting, the signal coming from the studio is delivered to the audience without quality changes.

''Technique doesn't identify Armenian fonts. We will be able to write the names of the TV programs in Latin fonts for some time. In future, possibly through legislative regulation, we will address this issue as well and only TV sets decoding Armenian letters will be imported to Armenia”, said Grigor Amalyan.

The overall cost of the program makes AMD 6bln 922mln.
