Yerevan /Mediamax/. Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation is going to establish a women’s resource center within Dilijan Development Program in Dilijan.

Upon IDeA’s initiative, a tradeshow of craftworks made by local women has been organized in Dilijan today. The tradeshow featured works of embroidery, tapestry,  carpet-weaving and painting, jewelry made of artificial and natural stones.

“The exhibition was organized to evaluate especially which crafts are preferred by the local women which will determine the choice of development areas of the future center and assessment of necessary measures to ensure further successful operation of the center. A similar project has been implemented in Goris; we have quite an interesting practice which will also be useful for the functioning of the Dilijan center”, said Head of Investment Department of Dilijan Development Program Davit Iskandaryan.

The program envisages retraining of the women who’ll join the center and their handmade works will be sold as souvenirs.

Upon IDeA Foundation and UWC Dilijan College, another event started in Dilijan today: the children of the town will be able to see the performances staged by Henrik Malyan Theater on December 19, 21 and 22.

“It’s already the second year that IDeA Foundation which is implementing major programs in the town has been organizing cultural events for the children of the town on New Year. We think it is a good initiative and children will enjoy the interesting performances”, Director of Dilijan Youth Center Armine Grigoryan said.
