Yerevan /Mediamax/. Head of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Border Guards in Armenia Vyacheslav Biryukov stated today that the provocations instigated incited on the border with Turkey will be thwarted on the threshold of April 24.
At the meeting with journalists today, he stressed that the Border Guard will be actively engaged in activities dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial.
“First of all, it refers to activities aimed at preventing provocations on the Armenian-Turkish border. Our employees are ready for it. We are conducting works along the lines of border representations and with the Turkish party, so that they rule out provocations for their part. We also carry out works with the population of Armenian border regions to exclude any kind of provocation. It is a political matter, and our task is to protect the borders, and we will do that”, said Vyacheslav Biryukov.
According to him, Turkey persistently resorts to minor violations during the shoaling of river areas, and “we constantly draw the attention of border commissioners to it”.
He also informed that the employees of the Border Guard detained over 60 state border offenders and over 20 border regime offenders in 2014.
