Yerevan/Mediamax/. Starting from 12.30 pm today, the police removed the barricades made of garbage cans from the passable area of Baghramyan Avenue.

The protesters tried to form a live wall in order not to allow the opening of the Avenue. The policemen took the protesters to the non-passable parts of the Avenue. There are several detained.

The police had stated in advance that in case of not opening the passable area of Baghramyan Avenue voluntarily by 12.30 pm, it would be done by law enforcement forces through the exercise of their powers.

After the police statement, the protesters had requested a few hours to determine their further actions, however, the police had refused.

Deputy Chief of the Yerevan police Valery Osipyan had said that the police wouldn’t impede the rally of the protesters if they moved to the Freedom Square or to the non-passable part of Baghramyan Avenue.

“The police won’t deploy any special measures. The policemen don’t have even batons,” said Deputy Chief of Police Hunan Poghosyan in his turn.
