We present an extract from the film “The Sorcerer Fall” by Ruben and Vahe Gevorgyants dedicated to the Italian playwright, poet and writer Tonino Guerra.

Armenia is the only place that hanged me. I would said entirely. I had already seen, of course, magnificent cathedrals, wonders of the world, works of art in different corners of the world, and all that, I found it fascinating. But it’s really Armenia that transformed me.

What did I find especially charming? The strength of the weakness. These monasteries built by the monks who were able to melt and soften the rocks with their prayers.

The historical museum in Yerevan filled me with time, and changed me in dust. I stopped before a great wooden cart with big wheels. The director of the museum told me it was a funeral chariot and that it was 2 thousand years old. Later as I was traveling across Armenia, I had those thousands of years with me on my back. I have not lost it, it is still with me - the centuries I felt while I was in Armenia.

The ancientness is still with me, I came back 2 or 3 months ago and until now I can still feel the influence of days spent in Armenia. From time to time I go back to the silence of those temples, to their secret conversations. And those monks who built those wonders through their prayers, they are so humble that entering every church I was walking on their gravestones, because they rest right under your feet at the entrance.

I will never forget that white veil, the white veil of Ararat that is always before the eyes of the Armenians. Every European, every person has to visit Armenia, if only for a day to cleanse himself under the clouds of spirituality.

In Armenia, time creates the space and who visits Armenia becomes an Armenian if only a bit. I feel that my visit to Armenia initiated my travel upwards, my travel up to the sky.
