Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a letter of apology to President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the account of the Su-24 military airplane downing on November 24, 2015.

It is worth reminding that after the Russian aiplane was downed by the Turkish Armed Forces, Vladimir Putin stated it was “a stab in the back” that Russia suffered from “accomplices of terrorists”. The incident caused a serious crisis in Russian-Turkish relations.

“President of Russia received a letter from President Erdogan, which stated the Turkish leader’s desire to defuse the situation related to the downing of the Russian plane. The President offered his condolences to the family of the fallen pilot and apologized in the letter,” stated Press Secretary for the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.
