Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian National Security Service (NSS) made a statement today where it urged “immediate surrender” of the members of the armed group that had seized the Police Station on July 17.

The statement gives details about the shooting, which took place last night, as a result of which two members of the group were wounded and two others were forced to surrender. It is noted that the group members ignored repeated demands to avoid aggression and not to go out from the territory of the Police Station with weapons.

NSS declares it has records confirming that some members of the armed group are on the territory of Police Station against their will, and fear for their safety even in case they decide to surrender.

“We note that pronounced terrorist activities of the most active members of the group are threatening the lives of not only the hostages, but the wounded members as well. In the current new situation, there is an absolute need to protect the lives of these individuals, which requires law enforcement agencies to perform adequate actions to suppress terrorist activities”, the statement reads.

NSS demanded from the members of the armed group the following:

1. Immediate removal of obstacles to the provision of medical assistance to the wounded;

2. Immediate release of all hostages;

3. Laying down arms and surrender.

“There is still possibility but the time is running out”, the statement reads.
