Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan stated today that Armenia and Georgia have been engaged in active cooperation in recent years, and bilateral relations showed notable progress.

Hovik Abrahamyan made this statement after the meeting with the delegation headed by Georgian PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Yerevan.

“Your visit will make the cooperation even stronger both politically and economically. For Armenia, the role and significance of Georgia are important not only in bilateral relations, but also in securing security of the entire region,” Armenian PM said.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili also noticed progress in Armenian-Georgian relations in recent years.

“It’s good to see that our countries maintain a high level of economic cooperation, and the Intergovernmental Commission is efficient,” Georgian PM said.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted that foundation of Armenian-Georgian enterprises in Armenia can be a perspective action, which will facilitate entry to the common market of Eurasian Economic Union for Georgian companies. Georgian PM welcomed this idea and suggested to discuss further stepts in the format of a joint working group.

The parties attached importance to realization of North-South Energy Corridor project, as well as construction of Friendship Bridge at Bagratashen-Sadakhlo border point.

Touching upon the issues at Upper Lars checkpoint caused by natural disasters, Georgian PM noted that Armenian Ministry of Transport and Georgian Ministry of Infrastructure actively cooperate and put efforts to solve the issues.
