Yerevan /Mediamax/. Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Alasania stated the “importance” of relations with Armenia.

“We have important and good-neighborly relations. We trust each other”, he said answering journalists’ questions.

“We know that Armenia does its best so as not a single threat is posed to Georgia’s interests by the Russian military base stationed there”, noted Irakli Alasania.

At the same time, the Minister stressed that Georgia didn’t gave Russia a permission to transit of cargoes for the base stationed in Armenia and won’t do it in future either, Mediamax reports.

“We keep track of the development of the situation in Russian military bases in Caucasus. We share verified information with our OSCE partner. Now we don’t see such a level of Russian arms deployment that would pose a direct threat to us. But we’re in constant state of readiness as 20% of Georgia’s territory is occupied”, said Irakli Alasania.
