Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan announced on August 10 that peaceful solution to Nagorno Karabakh issue and the implementation of the agreements achieved in Vienna and St. Petersburg had been the main themes during his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Armenian President announced it as a result of meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

“It is certainly important that the agreements achieved are maintained. We are ready for it”, said the Armenian President.

He also thanked the Russian president for “his great personal contribution” in the peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict.

“We have discussed the basic principles and approaches to solve this complex problem in Sochi two years ago. These principles are unchanged. Such conflicts cannot be resolved by reference to the consequences, rather than eliminating the causes. The essence of the Karabakh conflict is the struggle for self-determination of the Karabakh people. It is all people’s inalienable right. The solution to this problem is respecting and ensuring this right. That’s what we have been discussing with the Russian President today”, added Serzh Sargsyan.

According to him, all the attempts, the result of which may violate the balance of forces, create winners and losers are doomed to failure and new tension.

“Everyone should benefit as a result of a realistic and clearly set decisions and actions, which are based on mutual respect and trust, rather than hatred and xenophobia”, the President added.

Referring to the cooperation in the economic sphere, Armenian President pointed out that exports to Russia during the first six months of this year increased by almost 90 percent, “reaching its historical maximum during six months”. Serzh Sargsyan also noted that within six months, bilateral trade turnover increased by 12%.
