Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said today that the genocide against Jews during the World War II was one of the most tragic and gravest pages of the history of mankind.

The President said this in his message on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. 

“Holocaust remembrance and condemnation of this slaughter is urgent till the world faces various manifestations of hatred and intolerance based on nation, race and religion, till there is a threat of recurrence of crimes against humanity.

It’s unequivocally true that consigning the genocide victims to oblivion and denial especially on a state level is one of the phases of the crime. It is a double crime not only against the innocent victims but also the present and future. Perhaps, it would be possible to prevent the crimes disguised by the World War II if the crimes against humanity committed during the World War I had been fully condemned globally and the culprits had been condignly punished”, Serzh Sargsyan’s message particularly reads this.

The Armenian President expressed his support and solidarity to the Jewish people and Jewish community in Armenia.

“The Armenian people which is commemorating the Armenian Genocide Centennial this year is more than sympathetic to the pain of the Jewish people. I reconfirm our commitment to jointly fight to prevent crimes against humanity with the resolve of “never again”” , the message reads.
