Dilemma which doesn’t exist
A good friend of mine, Michael Kambeck, sent us his new column today. As Michael’s assistants were busy and the Armenian translation of the column could be late I decided to translate it myself quickly. Maybe, that was one of the reasons why I read the column very attentively and noticed points which I think have a bit wrong accents.

“Gagik Oskanyan” or “Vardan Tsarukyan”?
Vardan Oskanyan and “Prosperous Armenia” party are on the eve of big changes. Former Armenian Foreign Minister should become a member of a party, whose main (if not the only) value and ideology is its leader with his enormous financial possibilities. As for “Prosperous Armenia”, it must enroll a person who radically differs from people of party leader’s closest entourage.

Russia, Turkey and Armenia
The Turkish FM arrived in Moscow today. Of course, it’s a common coincidence and the visit is no way linked to the French Senate’s decision though the fans of conspiracy theories will undoubtedly do an "in-depth” analysis today.

I want a birthday present
All of us love getting presents especially on our birthdays. And I am not an exception as well and I got good presents and wishes today. But there is a present which I want to get this year and I’m ready to receive it even with big delay.

Why does ANC keep silence?
A huge rally will be held in Moscow tomorrow. Up to 30 thousand people will protest in downtown Moscow against the outcome of December 4 parliamentary elections. The protesters claim the elections were forged to conceal the fact that United Russia Party [“Yedinaya Rossiya”] has in fact gained only 25% of votes. U.S. Secretary of State and European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy sharply criticized the Russian elections. This naturally aroused the fury of Kremlin.

About “unawareness”
It was quite natural that the representatives of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) wouldn’t like the statements made by the German Ambassador to Armenia about the years of Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s presidency. However, I was truly surprised when reading “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper I came across the comments by ANC spokesman, Arman Musinyan, who said that German Ambassador’s statements are the result of “unawareness and one can only feel sorry for that.”

A strange telegram
Today, on the day of the 20th anniversary of declaration of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic’ s (NKR) independence, the NKR presidential press service reported that Bako Sahakyan sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of Moldavian Republic of Transnistria (MRT) Igor Smirnov.

Is Europe near or far?
The interview of Armenia’s Ambassador to the European Union Avet Adonts published on our site today revealed a number of important issues that I (and perhaps, most of you) wasn’t aware of before.

A letter from Sergey Brin
We often regret something we haven’t done or, on the contrary, something we have. Or we often tell ourselves: I would have done it quite differently today. It is in our nature to reconsider what we have or have not done.

What did we expect from Kazan?
The meeting of Presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia in Kazan did not become a breakthrough. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that the reason was Azerbaijan, as it put forward about ten new proposals. His Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mamedyarov objected, saying that Armenia demands too many concessions.

Should we support Palestine?
Palestinian "Fatah” Party’s delegation has arrived in Yerevan. In September, Palestine intends to raise the issue of its independence’s recognition in UN and Palestinians strive to enlist the support of as many countries as possible.

Each of the sides “flexes its muscles”
The dialogue between the authorities and ANC continues remaining the most discussed topic. There is no lack of bile and accusations in analyses, comments.

Response to Boris Navasardyan
Of course, I expected that the President of Yerevan Press Club (YPC) Boris Navasardyan would respond to my “Monarchy on Information Disputes” column, published on May 10.

Political spam
I saw a material on TV news last week. It was telling about MIAK party’s initiative. MIAK has elaborated “Nagorno-Karabakh: The Truth and Facts” document and is sending it out from April 8 to May 8 to various e-mails in various countries. According to the TV material, 1mln letters have already been sent out, and the target is to send out 4mln letters.

Our choice is limited
It is actually the first time that the Armenian Prime Minister openly speaks about his fight against oligarchs and monopolists. I’m sure that media will soon be flooded with various comments and analysis, which, using the PM’s terminology will again mean “switching the arrows” on the PM. A few will take PM’s words as a call for help.

Exactly 10 years ago today, negotiations were launched between the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Robert Kocharian and Heydar Aliyev on Florida’s Key West island.
