Yerevan /Mediamax/. Military servicemen Hakob Injighulyan captured in Azerbaijan in August 2013 was handed over to Armenia from a third country early in the morning today.

“I have always dreamed about coming to Armenia during my captivity. I missed my motherland most of all, my village and family”, Hakob Injighulyan said this talking to journalists.

Touching upon the period of captivity and Azerbaijani side’s treatment, Hakob Injighulyan said the following:

“They mainly beat me, mocked, bullied and abused. At first, they threatened to shoot me, I gave interviews under pressure. Even before my meetings with Red Cross representatives, they said what I should say. They controlled my correspondence with the family and dictated me what to write”, he said.

Hakob Injighulyan noted that the issue of moving to a third country was raised by the Azerbaijani side.

“They said I should go to a third country if I try to flee or go to Armenia at once - they will shoot me. For me, there is no any third country but Armenia”, said the former prisoner of war.

Speaking about his refuge, he said that he was locked in a 5-storey guardhouse. “There were Armenians there but I will talk about them later”, he said.

Hakob Injighulyan said that Azerbaijani side mainly tried to get information about his service, duties as well as policy under pressure but the information he gave wasn’t enough for the rival.

“I thank all those people who don’t consider me a traitor. I did it for my life to be in my motherland now”, he said noting that he is going to continue his military service.

Hakob’s father, Gevorg Injighulyan, thanked associates of International Committee of the Red Cross, UN and Armenian Defense Ministry for all the efforts to return his son home.

Hakob Injighulyan was sent to a third country from Baku on August 26, 2014.
