Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan has today stated that 2015 was a year of strengthening of positions and achievements in the Armenian Armed Forces.

The Minister said this addressing an annual press conference attended by commanders and the best soldiers who stood out with their work over the last year.

“Last year, we worked in an extremely tense situation - subversive actions, shootings from the maximum caliber weapons up to cannons and even tanks. In this reality, we managed to restrain the rival within the armed resistance not only during the defensive battles; we also took preventive actions if needed”, said Seyran Ohanyan.

Touching upon the news on the rival’s advance, the Minister has said that “there has been no change in our defense lines and advance in positions”.

He has noted that last year, serious work was carried out with the allied and partner structures including a number of CSTO member states.

“The year was remarkable for the Armenian Armed Forces in terms of holding of strategic events, we completed the second Strategic Defense Review (SDR). We also drafted the 2016-2020 development plan”, said the Armenian Defense Minister.

Seyran Ohanyan has noted that in 2015, they “reached results in 4 areas - human resources management, social field, procurement and holding of conscription”.

The Armenian Defense Minister has stressed that 2016 was declared as a year of commanders’ training in the Armenian Armed Forces.
