Yerevan /Mediamax/. Despite the tension growth on the contact line of the Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan considers the resumption of Azerbaijan’s large-scale military actions less likely.

At the meeting with journalists today, Seyran Ohanyan spoke of rumors on Azerbaijan’s intention to launch large-scale military actions close to Sochi 2014 Olympics, Mediamax reports.

“I find it less likely as the Azerbaijani leadership has once again got convinced of Armenian soldier’s invincibility and clearly understands that Armenian Armed Forces are always ready to overcome the challenges they face”,  the Minister of Defense said.

According to Seyran Ohanyan, Azerbaijan’s provocations increase especially during important political events or negotiation days.

“They attempt to practice provocations on the border. After getting an adequate response and suffering big losses they start irregular firing and act in a panic-stricken way. We do not respond to the irregular firings; we response only to the sniper firing”, Seyran Ohanyan said.

The Minister stated that the Armenian Armed Forces give more severe response to the enemy whenever there are casualties from the Armenian side.

Seyran Ohanyan noted that Armenia keeps up with its proposal to conduct a joint investigation of incidents occurring on the border, but Azerbaijan refuses it.

“Although Azerbaijani leadership doesn’t agree to carry out a joint investigation, we conduct a unilateral investigation by informing the international infrastructures about those incidents and presenting relevant evidence”, the Defense Minister said.
