Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan said that the best Education System Concept Draft should be elaborated, which will predetermine the development of public education.

“We must honestly ask ourselves whether the offered education system concept meets our demands. If the answer is yes, then we should enhance it, and if the answer is negative, then despite all the efforts that the previous work took, the specialists should introduce several new drafts for us to choose the most suitable variant,” Levon Mkrtchyan said.

According to the Minister, education programs and curriculums for basic subjects will be developed after the education system concept, which will clarify distribution of subject information volume.

“We need to do everything possible to involve the best specialists in the groups, that set subject criteria,” Levon Mkrtchyan said.

“The main problem of Armenian education system is alleviation of school curriculum, reconsideration of the books and curriculums, incorporation of new teaching methods,” the Minister said.

“It is very important to provide schools with a circle of academic freedoms. In addition to mandatory subjects, schools should have the freedom to form ¼ of the education program themselves,” Minister of Education and Science said.
