Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenia is deeply concerned about the current large-scale violence against Yesidi population going on in the north Iraq which has resulted in numerous deaths.

The statement made by the Armenian President’s Spokesperson Arman Saghatelyan notes this, Mediamax reports.

“Use of violence against any ethnic or religious minorities and particularly against Iraqi Yezidis is absolutely unacceptable and the international community should take immediate steps to stop it as soon as possible, support the victims and deliver humanitarian aid.

The Armenian President gave assignments to the Foreign Ministry and  heads of diplomatic missions to double their efforts toward handling the issue in the international arena on a proper level”, said the statement reads.

The statement also notes that on August 18, President Sargsyan discussed with the Armenian Prime Minister issues related to increasing the initial volumes of the humanitarian aid provided by Armenia which will be tackled by the Armenian government within coming days.

“The official Yerevan will be keeping track of the issue and Republic of Armenia will do its best to consistently support the friendly Yezidi people which is going through a tough challenge”, the statement reads.
