“There is common understanding” around future Armenia-EU agreement in Riga

Yerevan /Mediamax/.  The declaration adopted at the EU Eastern Partnership Summit being held in Riga notes that there is “common understanding reached on the scope for a future agreement between the EU and Armenia”.

 

EU member states’ and partner countries’ representatives welcomed “the common understanding reached on the scope for a future agreement between the EU and Armenia aimed at further developing and strengthening their comprehensive cooperation in all areas of mutual interest”.

 

The EU also hailed Armenia’s progress in in the full implementation of the Visa Facilitation and Readmission Agreements noting that they expect to start talks on visa regime liberalization with Armenia in case of sustained progress.

 

The participants of the Summit look forward to following up talks on “Horizon 2020” research and innovation program and launching of negotiations on an EU-Armenia Aviation Agreement at the earliest opportunity.

 

The talks on joining Competitiveness of Enterprises and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (COSME) program are also scheduled.
