Yerevan /Mediamax/. The EU will from now on demonstrate flexibility and differentiated approach to its Eastern and Southern partners.

The press release on revision of European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) disseminated yesterday reads this.

Meeting with journalists today, Head of EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski said that large-scale consultations on ENP revision has been conducted with EU member states and partners including Armenia, international organizations and civil society representatives.

“Around 250 proposals including the one from the Armenian government on ENP revision were received. The revision resulted from the recently changed realities: the neighbor states, EU and the overall situation in the neighborhood has changed”, said the Ambassador.

The new policy will first of all focus on ensuring stabilization, differentiated approach and greater mutual ownership.

Thus, the EU accepts that not all the partners strive to meet the EU standards and each country’s intentions will be taken into account and reflected in the format of the partnership. The new ENP will also ensure more flexible ways of issuing financial means so as EU could more quickly respond to the new challenges of the Neighborhood.

Piotr Switalski said that within upcoming months, the ENP revision will be discussed with the EU member states and partners to jointly decide and shape further relations.
