Yerevan /Mediamax/. Deputy Director of Caucasus Institute, political scientist Sergey Minasyan is convinced that in case of deterioration of Russia-Turkey relations, Moscow will use the Armenian Genocide issue as a lever of pressure against Turkey.

Upon Mediamax’s request, the political scientist commented on the submission of the draft law on criminalizing the Armenian Genocide Denial to the Russian State Duma noting that Russia will try to use the factor of the Armenian Genocide as it was done and is being done by the U.S. and a number of European countries.

“The Armenian Question is one of the most effective levers against Turkey. Both Turkey and Russia are well aware of it”, said Sergey Minasyan.

According to the political scientist, in case of aggravation of Russia-Turkey relations, other developments particularly revision of a number of Russia-Turkey agreements including Moscow and Kars agreements can’t be ruled out.

“However, if Turkey manages to please Russia meeting the Moscow’s demands, there won’t be significant developments in this context”, said Sergey Minasyan.
