Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenia agrees with the opinion stated by UN that self-determination is a display of democracy, and the implementation of it plays a significant role in the matter of establishing an international order based on peace.
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian made this statement during his speech at the 31st session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
“This right is included in the basic principles of NKR conflict settlement, presented by international mediators. Armenia fully shares that approach, as without free and complete realization of this right an entire set of human rights becomes unaccessible, and long-term peace is threatened,” said Minister.
Edward Nalbandian reminded that according to Geneva Conventions, civilians cannot be a targeted and should be protected regardless of circumstances.
“Armenia condemns the permanent targeting of civilians and civilian objects that Azerbaijan carries out at Armenia-Azerbaijan border and along Artsakh conflict line. This is another violation of humanitarian rights by Azerbaijan. These incidents demand immediate actions from international structures,” noted Foreign Minister.
