Yerevan/Mediamax/. Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE, Ambassador Arman Kirakosyan said that Azerbaijan’s attempt to strike a decisive blow and gain military victory was defeated by NKR Defense Army, and Azerbaijan paid a high price for its military ventures.

The Ambassador made this statement on April 5 during the session of OSCE Permanent Council, which was dedicated to military confrontation between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan at the Line of Contact.

Arman Kirakosyan stressed that Azerbaijan’s military aggression aimed to divert the attention of international community from cases of human rights violations in the country, restrain the public’s dissatisfaction with dropping oil prices and social and economic problems caused by increase of prices, as well as hinder the process of peaceful settlement of NK conflict, trying to gain advantage through provocations and use of force.

According to Armenian Ambassador, this confrontation differs from previous escalations by attmepts to seize territory and mass bombardings of civilian population and towns.

“Azerbaijan doesn’t even try to hide the bombarding of border villages, particularly Martakert, and even threatens to target the capital of NKR, Stepanakert,” said the Ambassador.

“People of NKR have the right of self-defense and Armenia as a guarantor of its safety will support Nagorno-Karabakh. Armenian President instructed Foreign Ministry to prepare a draft agreement on mutual military assistance between Armenia and NKR,” added Armenian Ambassador.
