Yerevan /Mediamax/. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan said today that "the Centennial is not the end and we will commit continued efforts to this end until we attain global recognition of the Armenian Genocide.”

Serzh Sargsyan stated it at the 24th meeting of the Board of Trustees of Hayastan All-Armenian Fund.

“The events held so far are the pledge of our consolidation. Joint actions can yield unexpected results for many or for all, and they can solve issues bearing vital importance for our people,” said Serzh Sargsyan.

He informed that the week of Independence Day in September will stand out with abundance of events this year.

“It will end on September 27 with the blessing and consecration of the Holy Chrism (Muron) at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. The sixth meeting of the State Commission Coordinating Centennial Events will also be held on those days,” said Serzh Sargsyan adding that all officials taking part in Centennial events will be promoted at the end of the year.

Touching upon the financing of the events, the Armenian President said that they were held and are held solely at the expense of private donations.

“Numerous Armenian compatriots, this time, mostly our businessmen and structures in Armenia and Russia sponsored “Against the Crime of Genocide” conference, the commemoration ceremony at Tsitsernakaberd, System of a Down’s concert and “Revival” concert-initiative. The Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) sponsored the canonization ceremony held at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin,” said Serzh Sargsyan.
