Yerevan/Mediamax/. The European Commission decided to announce the launch of negotiations on visa regime facilitation with Armenia during the Eastern Partnership Summit in late September.
EU Chief Negotiator Gunnar Wiegand said this in Yerevan today, Mediamax reports. The session of Armenia-EU Cooperation Committee was held in Yerevan today.
According to the European official, the facilitation of visa regime means that the price of entrance visas for Armenian citizens will reduce and the procedure of receiving them will become easier.
Heads of member states of the program, including Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, will take part in the Eastern Partnership Summit, due to be held in Warsaw, September 29-30.
When asked about the terms of beginning of negotiations on the creation of a free trade zone, the European official recalled that this document is the component of the Association Agreement, noting that in order to start negotiations the Armenian government needs to take steps of legislative and administrative character.
“We are negotiating with the government of Armenia and believe that these steps will be taken in the nearest future” Gunnar Wiegand said.
