Yerevan/Mediamax/. Heidi Tagliavini, who heads the OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission for presidential election in Armenia, has a big work experience in the South and North Caucasus.
Mediamax recalls that Heidi Tagliavini, a Swiss diplomat, led the EU investigation into events leading to 2008 war between Russia and Georgia.
The report of the commission was published on 30 September 2009.
At the meeting with representatives of the former ruling “United National Movement” Party in fall 2012, Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili said quoting this report:
“This big provocation was planned by your Commander-in-Chief and you. This is said also in the report of Heidi Tagliavini. The Americans and the Europeans also admit it. These processes could not have happened if we had normal leadership.”
Heidi Tagliavini was born in 1950. She was a member of the OSCE Assistance Group to Chechnya in 1995. From 1998 to 1999, she was the Deputy Head of the United Nations Observer Mission (UNOMIG) in Georgia. From 2002-2006, she led the UNOMIG.
In 2010, Heidi Tagliavini led the OSCE/ ODIHR Election Observation Mission during the Ukrainian presidential election.
