Yerevan /Mediamax/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said today that Armenian-Turkish process reached a deadlock and is now frozen because the Turkish side tried to put forward preconditions and “interpret some processes in a special way”.

The Armenian President said today that answering the questions of the participants of the meeting held in the Armenian Defense Ministry.

“We started and made Armenia-Turkey process public with honest intentions to bring the regional cooperation and security up to a new level. And if it seemed to anyone that we didn’t realize the difficulties he’s very much mistaken. We realized very well whom we dealt with and what a tough issue we tries to solve”, said Serzh Sargsyan.

“Suspension of the process was also predictable. In any case, our partners and supporters made fully sure that it’s not Armenia that’s to blame for lack of Armenia-Turkey relations”, said the Armenian President.

Speaking on Armenia-Turkey Protocols, Serzh Sargsyan said:

“Many people said that the two documents were in Armenia’s  but Turkey’s interests obviously. In this case, why haven’t the Turks ratified the document up to now? It’s obvious that if the documents were in Turkish interests nothing would have stopped them - neither Azerbaijan’s opinion, nor anyone’s opinion and the documents would be easily ratified”, said Serzh Sargsyan.

The Armenian President also said that today “the Turks currently throw all their efforts into fighting against the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee’s Resolution on the Armenian Genocide”.
