Yerevan /Mediamax/. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who is running for presidency made a statement which was condemned as an apparently racist remark both inside the country and abroad.
Zaman newspaper reports that Erdogan said the following:
“I was called a Georgian. I apologize for this, but they even said worse: they called me an Armenian. But I'm a Turk."
According to the newspaper, Erdogan’s apparently racist remarks sent chills across Turkey and lit up social media accounts, many condemning him for insulting his own Armenian citizens.
