Yerevan/Mediamax/. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia stated today that "henceforth the President of Azerbaijan and his military-political regime will bear direct responsibility for the deaths of Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers.”

“In connection with the incident on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on August 23, we report that the obtained information allows us to conclude that the Armenian soldiers were shot by the rival’s sniper from a distance of 700-800 meters.

Through this incident, the ruling regime in Azerbaijan is trying to destabilize the Nakhichevan part of Armenia’s state border which was considered to be a relatively calm region, and “remind” the voters in Nakhichevan “whom they owe their life and well-being.” We would like to remind that henceforth personally the President of Azerbaijan and his military-political regime bear direct responsibility for the deaths of Armenian and Azeri soldiers. In this context we attach special importance to the final coordination of the mechanism of investigation of border incidents and call on the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to use all possible levers to overcome the obstacles set by Azerbaijan,” the statement reads.

The Defense Ministry of Armenia expressed condolences to the relatives of Private Norayr Petrosyan and wished speedy recovery to Private Artur Asoyan.
