Yerevan /Mediamax/. Lydian International will extract gold with the use of environmentally safe modern technologies in Amulsar.

President and CEO of Lydian International Howard Stevenson told Mediamax correspondent about it.

“For the first time in Armenia, heap leaching technology will be used which doesn’t imply a tailing and rules out industrial discharge to the water, soil or air. I think the new approaches will allow us to change the society’s perception on mining”, noted Howard Stevenson.

“Yes, there are people who are against operation of the mine in Armenia but the reason is that they evidenced the negative outcomes as a result of previous legacy of the industry. It’s no secret that improper mine operation entails environmental problems. But mining can be carried out in a different way, based on modern technology, which is done in many developed countries”, said Howard Stevenson.
