Yerevan /Mediamax/. Head of UWC Dilijan College John Puddefoot said today that the foreign students of UWC Dilijan College already have some knowledge of Armenian.

“Some of them know Armenian enough to make purchases from Dilijan stores without any worries”, said the Head of UWC Dilijan College addressing a news conference in Yerevan.

John Puddefoot said that for the present Armenian students teach them Armenian, but starting from 2015 all interested foreign students will attend Armenian language and Armenological classes delivered by professional pedagogues.

“We are actively engaged in works aimed at involving study of Armenian in the academic curriculum of the college and we hope Armenian will become International Baccalaureate (IB) program’s exam subject in the coming years”, said John Puddefoot.

Touching upon the teaching of Armenian for students from Armenia, John Puddefoot said:

“Some of the students from Armenia come to UWC Dilijan College after graduating from high schools and we are discussing issues related to an “advanced” course of Armenian for them. As to those students from Armenia who come to our college after completing their 11th grade, starting from January 2015 Armenian language, literature, culture, history and religion classes will be introduced for them and so their education will fully comply with national educational standards”.
