Yerevan /Mediamax/. The series of lectures related to humanitarian topics and dedicated to the Armenian Genocide Centennial continues at UWC Dilijan College.

Famous Diaspora Armenian historians – Research Director at the French Institute of Geopolitics, University of Vincennes in Saint-Denis (University of Paris VIII) Raymond Gevorgyan and professor at University of California, Berkeley Stepan Asturyan – delivered a lecture for the college’s students and academic staff in the evening of March 31.

During their lecture, the historians touched upon genocides, reasons evoking them and drew parallels between the Armenian Genocide and the Holocaust. They also spoke about humanism stressing that charitable organizations of various countries have stretched a helping hand to the Armenian Genocide survivors.

The series of lectures was organized on the joint initiative of Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation and UWC Dilijan College.

“One of the main tasks of our college’s educational philosophies is to be most aware of the history and culture of the people where our collage is located, at the same time taking into account the international representation and mentality of our students. 2015 marks the Armenian Genocide Centennial and we are inviting renowned scholars to discuss issues related to genocide in general and to Armenian Genocide in particular. This evening granted an opportunity to touch upon the Armenian Genocide, its reasons and implications,” noted Head of UWC Dilijan College John Puddefoot after the lecture.
